Assignment 6.0

This was our final assignment that consisted of the majority of the semester.

As a class we designed the building shell and the floor plan.

Then, we were split into small groups to design different areas of the interior spaces.

I was a part of the children's area with Lily Glover and Monique Farley.

Our concept was Organic Enlightenment.

The objective of Organic Enlightenment is to provide the children with an interactive journey that reinforces the idea of learning. As the user enters the space, the curving stacks take you on a journey that leads you on a path of education peaking at the stepped T.V area. Through the use of color and materials, the users will have a more hands on experience which will provide for a better learning environment.

These are a few precedents we looked at.

Assignment 5.0

The class was split into groups to further study of the Vance Chavis branch library in Greensboro, NC

I chose to be in the site group along with Jessica Cruse and Christyn Dunning.

We designed the ampitheater, outside patio, and the parking lot.

Assignment 3.0

For this assignment we were to research and study a precedent library. I chose the Denver Public Library in Colorado.

I studied natural daylighting and how it effected the library.
The location of the Denver library is in central Denver, downtown.
I looked at the colors present and what they represented.
I looked at the overall shape and design of the exterior of the building and moments each block creates.

There wasn't much information I could find on the interior of the building except the few pictures I found.
